CStarsky Community Virtual Special Events are opportunities for students to have fun and build their skills. Prior participation in CStarsky tutoring or training is not required. Registration is free; however, all participants in CStarsky Community Virtual Special Events must register using the buttons below the events.
A variety of special events will be offered over time, therefore, this page will be updated monthly to show current events. All events will be 60-90 minutes using either Zoom or GoogleMeet unless otherwise stated. Links to events will be emailed to registered participants. Free Trial Tutoring Session for New Customers
Are you considering a virtual tutoring package but just not sure you want to make the investment? CStarsky Lifelong Learning is offering a free one hour session to new clients.
For adults, your tutor will spend the hour asking about your goals and do an informal assessment of your current knowledge, skills, and abilities. She will also give you information and exercises to get started.
For children, the tutor will spend 30 minutes talking with a parent(s) to learn about parent expectations and the student's interests and skills. This will be followed by a 30 minute session with the child.

2026 Back to School Tutoring
Back to school tutoring focused on reading and writing topics are available for students needing an extra boost as they start the new school year. Sessions are customized to meet student needs and may include:

parts of speech (e.g., nouns, verbs, adjectives

sentence structure

creating documents
Depending on student interests and needs, we will also focus on writing fiction and nonfiction stories, persuasive arguments, and journaling. Logical flow and imagery will be emphasized.

Answers to ESL Students' FAQ
The goal of this session is to answer questions from English Language Learners (ELL). These are not formal structured English lessons. To get the conversation started each session will begin with a topic that has been covered in CStarsky virtual lessons for beginning ELLs. Just as our one-on-one sessions are customized to student needs, these group sessions will be customized to the needs of participants.
Basic information for new English Language Learners (ELL) will be presented at the beginning of each session. Examples include:

Spelling (including vowels, consonants and common combinations)

Parts of speech (e.g., nouns, verbs, adjectives)

Techniques that can be used to analyze English words to determine pronunciation and meaning.

Resources to practice reading, listen to English, and increase vocabulary
Participants should feel free to bring their own questions about these, or other, topics.

ESOL Conversation Group
This "Conversation Hour" is for people learning English as a second language that would like to practice speaking English in a welcoming environment. This is a very informal session.
We will provide:

Resources with brief news articles that you can use to practice pronunciation and reading.
